Why code export matters more than it sounds

Lock-in is rarely about malice. It is about what happens when your needs outgrow the tool.
Most people never export their site. The value of being able to is that it changes what happens when the product no longer fits — you migrate instead of rebuilding.
What matters is not whether an export button exists but what comes out of it. A folder of rendered HTML is a backup. A structured project with components, styles and a data schema is a starting point.
Check the export before you need it. Build something small, export it, and see whether you could hand the result to a developer without an apology.
